"At almost age 50, I decided to do it... I'm going back to school. It was embarrassing, and I always asked myself, 'Why couldn't you just make it happen earlier?' But, I'm... I'm going to do it. I just didn't want to start and fail, or start then stop, then start then stop. But, now I'm taking steps. I took time to raise my girls. I had moved to New York, and that's where I got my start in the financial business... but I just didn't feel a purpose in what I was doing. If you met my girls, you'd see how spoiled they are; not with stuff, because I didn't have the money, but with love. Sometimes they'd get on me like, 'Mom, why don't you have money to buy me this?' And I'd say, 'Look, you don't know how good you have it. You have a roof over your head, you're loved, you're wanted here.' I work evenings with the juvenile population, so I see a lot of kids that don't have that. That's why I'm going back to school... human services."
"He didn't want to move here at first. I have a scholarship, but I said ok- wherever you want to be, we'll make it work. It's one year long-distance so far. We're on a time difference, so when I wake up, he's going to bed. It's not easy. We set 15 minutes, twice a day, to talk. FaceTime makes it a lot easier."
